LED is the most widely used electronic component in the visible light application nowadays,and it is widely used in all kinds of electronic products with surface mounting structure,such as the switch indicator light of household appliances, mobile phone keypad light, automobile dashboard lighting, etc. The product is also widely used as the backlight of liquid crystal display (LCD). This product is also widely used as the backlight of liquid crystal display (LCD).


A lot of SMT patch factory have LED lights for the patch processing, LED lights SMT patch and conventional PCB patch processing or some different points,need to pay attention to matters are not the same,then the LED patch processing process, what need to pay attention to the matter?


LED SMD processing matters of note:

1.Moisture and humidity

In the LED patch processing process, must pay attention to moisture and humidity.In order to avoid moisture absorption in the transport and storage,the packaging of the patch LED moisture-proof aluminium bag packaging,and packaging containing desiccant and humidity card, desiccant mainly play a role in controlling the temperature of the bag, humidity card is mainly used to monitor the humidity in the bag.


2.Temperature

In the LED lamps for SMD products, we must pay attention to temperature control,LED lamp beads PPA part of the maximum withstand temperature is about 260 degrees Celsius,so the welding temperature can not exceed the temperature, and should control the time to avoid heat deformation and yellowing of PPA.


3.Cleaning

In the LED chip processing process, must not use unknown chemical liquids to clean the LED,because unknown chemical liquids may damage the LED.If necessary,can be placed in the alcohol lamp, soak time not more than one minute, and then naturally dry for 15 minutes, and then use it again.


Do not use unknown chemical liquids to clean the SMD LEDs as this may damage the SMD LEDs.When cleaning, immerse the SMD LEDs in alcohol for less than one minute at normal room temperature and allow to dry naturally for 15 minutes before use.

3.Storage

Patch LED storage package sealed storage temperature conditions after <40 ℃.


4.ESD Protection

LEDs (especially InGaN structured blue, emerald green, violet, white, pink LEDs) are ESD sensitive components, static electricity or current overload will damage the LED structure.


ESD damage or current overload may cause abnormal performance,such as excessive leakage current,low VF,or failure to illuminate.Therefore,please pay attention to the following matters:

a.Wear an anti-static wrist strap or anti-static gloves when touching LEDs.


b.All machines, equipment, tools, tables, shelves, etc., should be properly grounded to protect.


c.Use anti-static bags, anti-static boxes and anti-static rotating boxes for storing or transporting LEDs,and prohibit the use of ordinary plastic products.


d.It is recommended to use an ionic fan to suppress static electricity generation during the working process.


e.Static field voltage should be less than 100V in the environment 1ft away from the LED components.


5.Soldering

a.Refer to the temperature curve on the first page for reflow soldering conditions.


b.The number of reflow soldering should not exceed two times.


c.Manual soldering is only recommended for repair and heavy work; the maximum soldering temperature should not exceed 300 degrees and should be completed within 3 seconds. The maximum power of the soldering iron should not exceed 30W.


d.During the soldering process, it is strictly prohibited to touch the gel under high temperature.


e.After welding, it is prohibited to apply external force to the gel, prohibit bending the PCB,to avoid components being hit.
