ROGERS has launched thermosetting laminate RO4830 specifically for low-cost applications of 77G automotive radar for millimeter-wave applications that pay great attention to circuit data. On the premise of effectively reducing costs, RO4830 also has excellent high-frequency performance.


Compared to RO3003, which uses PTFE material, RO4830 uses optimized low-cost resin materials, smaller and more uniform fillers and flat-distributed electronic-grade glass fiber cloth, giving RO4830 excellent high-frequency performance. Like RO4835, it adopts advanced anti-oxidation design, so RO4830 has stronger oxidation resistance, which is especially suitable for 77G millimeter wave radar to work in outdoor environment for a long time. In the application of 77G automotive radar, more engineers are concerned about the performance performance of RO4830 high-frequency circuit board material at 77GHz frequency, especially the performance performance of loss and dielectric constant, as shown in the figure below. Compared with RO3003, a high-frequency circuit board material that uses ordinary electrolytic copper foil (most use electrolytic ED copper foil), RO4830 has a slightly lower loss and a slightly higher dielectric constant. In product transmission and antenna design, the cost of radar modules can be effectively reduced while ensuring satisfactory performance.

77G automotive radar mainly requires long-distance detection of the front anti-collision warning radar FCW and the blind spot detection radar BSD. However, BSD does not require a detection distance as far as FCW's 150m, and has slightly lower microwave performance requirements. Therefore, when selecting high-frequency circuit board materials, RO3003 of rolled copper foil can be used as the first choice for FCW, which can detect longer distances. At the same time, RO4830 can be selected as the preferred high-frequency circuit board material for BSD, which can effectively reduce costs and match high and low. .
